Michelle To, DDS

“I see myself as a community helper. My profession allows me the opportunity to take care of the children both routinely and in times of emergency needs. Beyond the practice, the parents and the children know that I am always there for them and the community. Working with so many unique people every day broadens my appreciation for others and I feel very humbled by the trust of so many families who have entrusted their children to my team of doctors and staff.” — Dr. Michelle To

Dr. Michelle To was raised in Vancouver, BC, and graduated from the University of Toronto Dental School with honors. She obtained her advanced pediatric dentistry training from the University of Southern California, where she served as president of the USC Pediatric Dental Alumni and is currently a professor at the USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry.

Dr. To has been in practice for more than twenty years. She continues her education on the latest in pediatric sleep apnea and materials through coursework and collaboration with colleagues at the university, and with other doctors and professionals.

In addition to continuing her education, Dr. To is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Fernando Valley Dental Society.

Dr. To also supports many charitable organizations in the greater Los Angeles area that advocate for children’s oral hygiene, including MEND nonprofit, where she provides dental screenings. She personally reaches out to about 50 preschools and kindergartens each year, to teach them the importance of oral hygiene. As a team, Smiling Sea gives back to the community and is a major corporate sponsor of many local community schools.

Dr. To resides in Sherman Oaks with her husband and practice partner, Dr. Roger Lim. Her son, Brandon, is in middle school and is a classical pianist and soccer player. When she’s not at work, Dr. T can usually be found in the valley running errands or taking Brandon to his activities. She enjoys gardening, hiking, cooking, and learning Spanish. Her greatest passion outside of dentistry and her family is playing classical piano.
